Books for young readers by Lene Mayer-Skumanz
Owing to Lene Mayer-Skumanz, a long time member of the museum society and a highly decorated author of literature for the young, there are two fantastic books dealing with Stillfried and its history.
KOWAN AND THE WOLF
... is a fascinating story about the friendship between a boy and a wolf, 25 000 years before Christ. The book is based on the scientific findings of the paleolithic excavations at Grub-Kranawetberg. These are supervised by the director of our Museum, Dr. Walpurga Antl-Weiser who was invited to contribute a chapter about the every day work of an archaeologist.
The book DER BERNSTEINMOND (The Amber Moon) is a thrilling story with the archaeological excavations in Stillfried in the 80ies as its background. It describes brilliantly how archaeologists worked in those days as well as how the excavation became an important part of the lives of the villagers in those days.
